Zespół Slaughterhouse z Los Angeles powraca z pięcioma zupełnie nowymi utworami inspirowanego wczesnymi latami 80. hardcore/death rocka z Los Angeles, przeznaczonymi dla szerokiej publiczności. Po hucznym roku 2024, Slaughterhouse bez wahania wrócił do studia z producentem Cameronem Webbem (Motörhead, Alkaline Trio, Pennywise), aby dać ludziom więcej tego, czego tak bardzo pragnęli: wielkie plany, wielkie brzmienia, wielkie krzyki… a ta EP-ka to dopiero początek tego, co szykują na nowy rok! Slaughterhouse, nigdy nie spoczywający na laurach, wciąż rozpala scenę i udowadnia wszystkim to, co ci, którzy widzieli ich na żywo, wiedzą już na pewno: ten zespół to prawdziwy profesjonalista, który doskonale poradzi sobie na każdej scenie, w każdym składzie.
Podobnie jak najlepsze zespoły punkowe z Los Angeles z początku lat 80., Slaughterhouse zdecydowanie ma się czym chwalić. Odnosząc się do otwierającej salwy „Sick and Tired”, wokalistka Meriel O’Connell uważa ją za bardziej osobisty utwór, zauważając: „Mnóstwo ludzi gada ci do ucha o tym, co powinieneś robić, mówić, jak wyglądać, jak się zachowywać… Nie sądzę, żebyśmy zostali stworzeni na tej planecie po to, by uszczęśliwiać wszystkich i czuć się komfortowo”. Jeśli „Sick and Tired” przemawia do bardziej osobistej strony, „DNA” to „bardziej na dużą skalę, chuj ci w życie w tym cis-, hetero-, euro-centrystycznym, uprzedzonym do osób niepełnosprawnych, kapitalistycznym piekle… czy to nie fajne?!”
Jeśli 4 nowe, autorskie utwory to za mało, na tej EP-ce znajdziemy porywający cover utworu „My War” zespołu Black Flag. Wierni swoim korzeniom i brzmieniu z Los Angeles, Slaughterhouse rozwala ten legendarny punkowy klasyk w wersji, która powinna ucieszyć Rollinsa, a jednocześnie uczynić go w pełni własnym. Los Angeles’s Slaughterhouse are back at it with 5 brand new tracks of early 80’s-inspired LA hardcore/death rock for the masses. Presented on a single sided 12” EP with etched B-side, Slaughterhouse are setting the tone for 2025 with what will no doubt be a fixture on best of the year lists, Sick and Tired, via Pirates Press Records.
After a raucous 2024, Slaughterhouse wasted no time getting back in the studio with producer Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Alkaline Trio, Pennywise) to give the people more of what they’ve been clamoring for: big plans, big sounds, big screams…and this EP is the just the start of what they have in store for the new year! Never one to rest on their laurels, Slaughterhouse continue to set the scene afire and prove to everyone what those who’ve seen them live already know: this band is the real deal, and they can more than hold their own on any stage, with any line up.
Like the best of early 80’s LA punk bands, Slaughterhouse definitely has something to scream about. Regarding the opening salvo “Sick and Tired,” singer Meriel O’Connell considers it a more personal song, remarking, “You get a lot of people talking in your ear about what you should do, say, look like, how you should behave…I don’t think we’re put on this planet to try to make everyone happy or feel comfortable.” If “Sick and Tired” speaks to the more personal side, “DNA” is, “more of a larger scale fuck you to living in this cis-, hetero-, Euro-centrist, ableist, capitalist hellscape…isn’t that cool?!”
If 4 new original songs weren’t enough, this EP features a blistering cover of Black Flag’s “My War.” True to their LA roots and sound, Slaughterhouse rips through this legendary punk classic with a version that should make Rollins proud, while at the same time making it wholly their own. For fans of Slaughterhouse, this is what you’ve been waiting for. If you’ve seen them live in the past year, you already know what’s coming. If you haven’t had the privilege yet, this is your starting point. If this EP is, as the band puts it, “the tip of the iceberg creatively,” we can’t wait to hear what’s next!
