Th’ Inbred, jeden z mniej znanych amerykańskich zespołów hardcore’owych lat 80., choć jeden z najbardziej znanych muzycznych eksportów Wirginii Zachodniej, wydał dwa albumy długogrające w latach 1985-1988 i trzykrotnie koncertował w USA. Ten politycznie zacięty zespół punkowy, inspirowany Dead Kennedys, Minutemen, Crass i Black Flag, pod koniec swojego thrashowego ataku przekształcił się w hardcore z wpływami jazzu. Krytykując mentalność młodych gangów straight edge („The Positive Song”) i MTV, aktualność tego zespołu przemija z powodu jego sarkastycznego dowcipu. Naśmiewając się z obyczajów w utworach takich jak „Scene Death”, wokalista Art Reco na EP-ce Reproduction z 1985 roku krytykuje „nazistowskich sportowców z dużą ilością gotówki”. Ich muzyczne umiejętności wyróżniają ich na tle innych producentów negatywnego klimatu tamtej epoki, takich jak Flipper czy No Trend. Płyta „A Family Affair” została wznowiona przez niemiecką wytwórnię, ale od dwudziestu lat jest praktycznie niedostępna!

One of the more obscure 1980s American hardcore acts, though one of West Virginia’s best-known musical exports, Th’ Inbred released two LPs between 1985 and 1988 and toured the US three times. A politically pointed punk act influenced by the Dead Kennedys, Minutemen, Crass, and Black Flag, their thrashy attack morphed into jazz-influenced hardcore by the end. Critical of the straight edge youth crew mentality („The Positive Song”) and MTV, the topicality of this band is outlived by its sarcastic wit. Mocking social mores on tracks like „Scene Death,” singer Art Reco calls out „nazi jocks with cash to spare” on 1985’s Reproduction EP. Their musical ability set them apart from other negative vibe merchants of the era like Flipper or No Trend.
The A Family Affair LP was reissued by a German label but has essentially been out of print for twenty years!
Ich drugi album, „Kissin’ Cousins”, wkracza w rejony progresywnego jazzu, niczym „Victims Family”. Oryginalna okładka przedstawiała Jerry’ego Lee Lewisa i jego młodą żonę, gustownie zasłaniając im oczy.
Gumowy, kreskówkowy wokal Reco ustępuje miejsca chropawemu szczekaniu w trakcie trwania tej kolekcji, a muzyka prezentuje szerszy zakres instrumentalny niż typowy thrash. Różnorodność instrumentów perkusyjnych i gitarowe brzmienie w stylu space jazzu poprzedzają chwiejność Primusa. Perkusista Billy Atwell grał również w The Rhythm Pigs i wydał solowy album „Ferret in a China Shop” w 1988 roku.
Płyta zawiera oba albumy, EP-kę „Reproduction 7” oraz dodatkowe, niewydane utwory. Materiał został wyprodukowany przez Paula Maherna z The Zero Boys.

Their second album, Kissin’ Cousins, gets into proggier / jazzy areas a la Victims Family. The original cover art featured Jerry Lee Lewis and his child bride, tastefully blocking out their eyes.
Reco’s rubbery, cartoon-ish vocals give way to gravelly barking over the course of this collection, and the music exhibits a wider intrumental range than straightforward thrash. The percussion variety and space-jazzed guitar sustain pre-dates Primus’ wonkiness. Drummer Billy Atwell also played in The Rhythm Pigs and released a solo album, Ferret in a China Shop, in 1988.
The CD includes both LPs, the Reproduction 7″ EP, and bonus unreleased songs. The material was produced by Paul Mahern of The Zero Boys.
